Yefim Bronfman |
Bronfman plays Beethoven
It's like bench-pressing double your own weight, and then doing it again—but that's the workout the pianist Yefim Bronfman often sets for himself in concert performance. His last visit here he performed two Beethoven piano concertos on one night. It was thrilling to watch, and at the end of the night he seemed both energized and exhausted—a concert that still lives on in the memory! This week, the pace is only slightly easier when Bronfman performs Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5. They don't call it Emperor for nothing, you know!
